Dill Pickle Pizza makes sense for anyone and everyone that loves dill pickle flavors. It’s bright, fresh, and beautifully different.
Dill Pickle Pizza: Because Every Dish Should Have a Dill Pickle Version
I’m sure it goes without saying that I’m one of those proud dill pickle obsessives. If it’s dill pickle flavored, I’m into it. I’ve kicked ranch dressing up a few notches with this dill pickle buttermilk ranch dressing, and dill pickle juice makes for an incredible chicken brine, as seen with my air fryer chicken tenders.
It should come as no surprise that it works beautifully with pizza as well.
And it should come as no surprise that I’m here with a recipe for exactly that!
What Do You Put on Pickle Pizza?
I played with this recipe a bit. The first time I made it I used marinara as a base. And though it wasn’t bad, the tomatoes took away from the pickle-y goodness. I couldn’t have that.
Caesar dressing has proven itself a winner—we’ve actually tried it with my homemade Caesar dressing and it was fab. You get a creamy base that brings a nice punch of pepper and garlic, but it still lets the dill pickles sing. And as a side, this side salad for pizza is perfection.
Here’s the Full Ingredient List
- Pizza dough — I use my homemade pizza dough recipe, but you could also grab some fresh from the supermarket. A premade shell is also totally fine.
- Caesar dressing — Grab your favorite brand! Or try it with my homemade Caesar dressing.
- Shredded mozzarella
- Dill pickles
- Shallot or red onion
- Fresh dill weed
- Olive oil
- Garlic salt
How to Make Pickle Pizza
- If using fresh dough, preheat the oven to its highest temp. If using a premade shell, preheat the oven as per the directions on the packaging.
- With lightly oiled hands, work your dough out onto your preferred pizza vessel (pan, stone, etc.)
- Brush some olive oil around the perimeter of the pizza where the crust will be; season with some garlic salt. (This step is optional, but hello, seasoned crust!)
- Evenly distribute the Caesar dressing over the center of the pizza, leaving about an inch from the edges for your crust.
- Sprinkle the cheese on top, then add the shallots, pickle slices, and the dill.
- Pop the pizza into the oven and let it cook for 12-15 minutes undisturbed—that means do not open the oven door to check on it! Once the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbling and starting to lightly brown, it’s ready. Every oven is different, so cooking time will vary.
- Let the pizza sit for about 10 minutes before slicing into it. Nobody likes pizza burn on the roof of their mouths.
Recipe Tips + Tricks
- For cooking temp and times, always go by the directions that come with your particular recipe or the directions on the package for something store bought or premade. Most fresh doughs will do well in an oven that is heated to its max, but always be sure to check that recipes instructions.
- If you don’t have fresh dill weed, dried dill weed is fine.
- I like to add shallots or red onions to this pizza because it adds something a little extra. You could go ahead and add more toppings if you’d like—such as pepperoni, green peppers, mushrooms, etc. I just wouldn’t add too many extras—you don’t want to take away from the pickles.
- If Ranch dressing is more your jam, swap out the Caesar base for my Dill Pickle Buttermilk Ranch Dressing!
