Easy and delicious, this air fryer pizza recipe is perfect for making personal pizzas; they cook in less than 10 minutes!
Why You’ll Love This Air Fryer Pizza Recipe
The air fryer does a fantastic job at crisping things up. So when it comes to air fryer pizza, you can expect a nice golden crust and perfectly crispy pepperoni—two very important components of a YUMMY pizza. It also melts the cheese beautifully!
Another great thing about this recipe is that it uses fresh pizza dough. You could use your own trusted dough recipe, my quick and easy one-hour pizza dough, or store-bought.
What to Serve It With
- I love salad with my pizza, and I especially love that standard pizza parlor salad. You know the one! A simple Caesar is also a great choice
- Buffalo wings are also a favorite in this house
- A nice refreshing cucumber & tomato salad
Quick Tip
The fan in an air fryer is strong and can blow lightweight toppings around. To prevent your toppings from blowing all over, place a dehydrating racks over the pizza if you have one. (My air fryer model came with them.) You could also secure pepperoni with toothpicks.
Ingredient Breakdown & Swaps
- Pizza dough. I’ve only used my one-hour dough recipe for this since it’s so quick and easy, but if you have your own trusted recipe, you could use that—or even store-bought. You’ll want to divide it for your personal pizzas.
- Olive oil. Brushing the crust with some olive oil creates a nice golden crust. You’ll also want to lightly grease the bottom of the air fryer basket with some oil.
- Pizza sauce. Unless you’re making a white or pesto pizza. We tend to stick to our simple marinara.
- Toppings. Here’s where you personalize things! Some toppings we love to use:
- Shredded Italian blend, mozzarella, cheddar, or little mozzarella balls (Bocconcini); A sprinkle of Parmesan is also great.
- Garlic salt & dried Italian herbs to season the crust
- Cup & Char pepperoni or crumbled sausage
- Olives
- Veggies like mushrooms, chopped tomatoes, spinach, or broccoli
- A drizzle of hot honey
How to Make Air Fryer Pizza
- Prepare your dough and work it into rounds sized just a tad smaller than your air fryer basket.
- Precook the pizza dough for about 3 minutes prior to adding your sauce, cheese, and toppings. This is a very important step, because the dough needs more time to cook than everything else.
- Dress your pizza while it’s still in the air fryer for efficiency, adding your sauce, cheese, and whatever else you fancy.
- Cook the pizza until the crust is golden brown and the cheese has melted. In my air fryer, this takes about 5 minutes.
- NOTE The fan in an air fryer is strong and can blow pepperoni around. You can pop a few toothpicks into the pepperoni slices to secure them or cover the pizza with a dehydrating rack if you have one.
Storage, Freezing, & Reheating
- Leftovers can be packed up in an airtight container and refrigerated for up to 4 days.
- You can make dough in advance and freeze it for up to 4 months. Wrap the fresh ball tightly in plastic wrap, then pop it into the freezer. Thaw overnight before use.
- To reheat leftover pizza, you can pop them back into the air fryer and heat in 2 minute increments until the pizza is warmed through.

Easy Air Fryer Pizza
Equipment
Ingredients
- 10-12 oz pizza dough ball, divided in two, My personal pizza dough recipe (Note: You can stretch this recipe into 3 balls of dough if you need.)
- Pizza sauce
- Olive oil
- Garlic salt (optional)
- Italian herbs (optional)
- Shredded Italian blend or mozzarella cheese, You can also use torn up mini mozzarella balls
- Any other toppings you'd like to add to your pizza
Instructions
Preparing the dough (Skip to assembling the pizza if you're using pita or naan):
- Preheat the air fryer to 400º F.
- Sprinkle a bit of flour over a clean surface and divide your dough ball into 2 balls (you can stretch it to 3 balls if you need). Work the dough out into round pizzas that are just about the size of your air fryer basket.
- Spray the bottom of the air fryer basket with a bit of olive oil or non-stick spray.
- Brush the top of the crust with a tiny bit of olive oil. If you want a flavored crust, sprinkle some garlic salt and Italian herbs over the outer crust. (Optional, but we recommend it!)
- With a fork, carefully poke holes in the center of the dough (avoiding the outer crust area). This will keep the middle of the dough from ballooning as it cooks.
- Transfer the dough to the air fryer basket and pre-cook it for 3 minutes. Pre-cooking the shell will help you get a nice golden crust in the end without overcooking the cheese and other toppings.
Assembling the pizza:
- Open the air fryer basket and dress your pizza—you can keep the crust in the air fryer while you do so, for efficiency. (If using pita or naan, just place it in the air fryer basket since it's already been prebaked).
- When the pizza is ready, close your air fryer basket and cook the pizza for 5 minutes.

This is my new favorite way to make pizza! So easy and they turn out perfectly every time!
I’m so happy to hear this, Tayler!
This was a great recipe and easy to make. My kiddos made it at I like it is easy enough they can do it on their own.
Right? Love that the kiddos get involved.
My mom used to make these for us because we all enjoyed our pizza a different way. We would have a sort of “pizza bar” with all the toppings and make our own combinations. Small personal pizzas are perfect for a house of picky eaters! No air fryer in the 90s though – she baked hers in the oven. I’m excited to try the air fryer version with my own kids!
I love these types of stories and traditions! Thanks for sharing that with us, Stephanie. I remember my mom making us little pizzas with English muffins when my dad as on midnights. They were so unfussy but so exciting!
I love this air fryer version of pizza. Great recipe. Thanks for sharing.
You’re welcome!

I’ve been making pizzas in the air fryer all week! I’m on to your cookie recipes now x can cookie dough go into the air fryer?

I’m so glad, Angela!
What? Where has this been all my life? I stashed my air fryer in the garage because I wasn’t using it…but this is a game changer :)
Haha, glad I was able to give you a reason to blow the dust off of that thing ;)
Love the idea of individual pizzas cooked so quickly. Great idea for a kids party too.
